MORE ABOUT THIS COFFEE: This rich, balanced and pleasing coffee comes with a surprise pop of juicy fruit. Dur Feres, which means Wild Horse in Amharic, is a regional blend of fully traceable and organic coffees sourced by Catalyst Coffee Trade.
For many years now, Marigold has been buying green coffee from Catalyst Trade, a small and nimble, quality focused Portland-based coffee importing company that focuses on Ethiopian coffees. Catalyst is also very dedicated to transparency, trust, ethical and sustainable partnerships and practices that go way deeper than just slogans.
Dur Feres is Catalyst Trade's flagship community-lot coffee, a coffee project and approach to green coffee contracts resulting in a bundle of good things. Catalyst has committed to these small growers year over year, providing the stability and predictability to really merit the all-to-often cloudy term of 'sustainably grown coffee'.
The Dur Feres lot was developed in honor of Mohamed Ogsady’s famed Harar Horse brand. Catalyst shares the inspiration behind the name: "Coffee folks everywhere slip into nostalgia when we mention Harar Horse coffee: its thick blueberry puree and chocolate notes took the world by storm in a time when coffees weren’t as distinguished by origin characteristics as we now expect."
